A building is marked at this location on the 1841 tithe award map. Hillaby notes that "a large part of the old workhouse in Church Street was used as a school for 300 boys." It is possible that this was the site of the pre-1837 workhouse. Not marked on the 1886 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map.
